What is goodness? What does it mean to be good? Have you ever really pondered these questions?
We’re often taught that being good means saying the right words, following the right rules, or doing what others consider to be the right thing. But I believe there is a deeper understanding of goodness, one that comes from the soul rather than from the personality.
True goodness isn’t about performing goodness for others to see. It is about acting from an inner knowing that says, This is the right thing to do. There’s no need for recognition, approval, or reward. Something within us simply knows.
When we act from this deeper place, we nourish our soul. And when our actions come from the soul, they can also nourish the world around us.
The Earth is not simply a backdrop for human life. We are part of a much larger tapestry of existence that includes the animal, plant, and mineral kingdoms, as well as forms of life and consciousness that we may not be able to perceive with our physical senses. We’re interconnected with all of it.
What happens within us therefore matters beyond ourselves.
This is where I want to introduce you to Ma’at, one of the ancient Goddesses of Egypt.
Ma’at is often described as the Goddess of truth, justice, balance, harmony, and right order. But she is more than a collection of qualities or an ancient figure from a civilization of the past. To me, Ma’at represents a living principle, a way of being in right relationship with ourselves, with one another, with the Earth, and with the greater web of existence.
The ancient Egyptians understood Ma’at as an essential principle of life. It was not merely about following rules. It was about living in alignment with the natural and spiritual order of the universe.
This understanding speaks to something that I believe many of us are longing to remember.
There’s a wisdom within us that knows when something is in alignment and when it is not. We may override it. We may become so accustomed to listening to the expectations of family, society, culture, or the personality that we no longer recognize the quiet voice within us. Yet that wisdom does not disappear. It waits to be remembered.
This is part of what I mean when I speak about Goddess energy.
You don’t have to believe in a Goddess in the traditional sense to explore this. You don’t have to adopt a particular religion or spiritual practice. Goddess energy can be understood as an ancient dimension of consciousness that honors receptivity, wisdom, intuition, embodiment, creativity, relationship, nurturing, discernment, and the sacredness of life.
And although we often associate these qualities with the feminine, they belong to everyone. Every human being carries the capacity to access them.
I believe this wisdom has been pushed to the margins for a very long time. We have become accustomed to valuing what can be measured, controlled, acquired, and explained. We’ve learned to look outside ourselves for answers when some of the deepest answers require us to become still enough to listen within.
Reawakening Goddess energy doesn’t mean rejecting the masculine or abandoning reason. It means restoring a balance that has been missing. It means remembering that wisdom can come through intuition as well as intellect, through receptivity as well as action, and through relationship as well as individual achievement.
Ma’at reminds us that our lives are not separate from the larger order of existence.
When we live with integrity, compassion, truth, and awareness, we contribute something to the world simply through the way we inhabit it. When we act from fear, greed, domination, or disregard for life, we also contribute something.
Every choice participates in the tapestry.
Perhaps this is why the question What does it mean to be good? matters more than we realize.
It invites us to look beyond appearances and ask a deeper question:
Am I living in a way that is aligned with the truth of my soul?
For me, this isn’t an abstract spiritual question. It is a way of living.
It’s learning to listen more deeply. It’s becoming conscious of our motives. It’s choosing truth when falsehood would be easier. It’s recognizing the sacredness of life in all its forms. It’s bringing our inner wisdom into the way we speak, work, love, create, and move through the world.
And perhaps most importantly, it’s remembering that the wisdom we seek isn’t something entirely new that we need to acquire.
Some of it is ancient.
Some of it has been waiting within us all along.
Astrological Energy of the week: October 11–17, 2026
We enter this week just after the New Moon in Libra, which invites us to begin again in the areas of relationship, balance, cooperation, and the way we relate to ourselves and others. From an evolutionary and esoteric perspective, Libra asks us to move beyond simply seeking harmony on the outside and instead discover the deeper harmony that comes from living in alignment with our soul.
The week itself takes us on an interesting journey. We move from the emotional depth of Scorpio, through the expansive vision of Sagittarius, and finally into the grounded practicality of Capricorn. Along the way, several important aspects encourage us to examine old patterns, confront what is no longer serving our evolution, and make more conscious choices about how we want to live.
Sunday, October 11
The week opens with the Moon in Libra opposite Chiron in Aries and trine the North Node in Aquarius.
The Moon represents our emotional world and instinctive responses. In Libra, we may be especially aware of our relationships and whether there is balance and reciprocity in them. The opposition to Chiron, the archetype of the wounded healer, can bring awareness to old wounds around independence, identity, or the fear of putting our own needs first.
You may notice where you have been compromising yourself to maintain peace, or where an old relationship pattern is asking to be healed.
The Moon’s trine to the North Node in Aquarius offers a way forward: rather than remaining identified with an old emotional pattern, we are encouraged to move toward greater authenticity, objectivity, and connection with the larger human family.
What you may experience: An old emotional wound may be activated, particularly through a relationship. You may recognize that keeping the peace is not always the same as creating harmony.
As the Moon moves into Scorpio, the emotional tone deepens. The Moon quincunxes Neptune in Aries, squares Pluto in Aquarius, conjoins Venus in Scorpio, and squares Mars in Leo.
Scorpio asks us to go beneath the surface. What have we been avoiding? What motivates us beneath our conscious intentions? What are we attached to that may need to transform?
The quincunx between the Moon and Neptune can make emotions more difficult to interpret. We may project meaning onto situations or sense something intuitively without yet knowing what it means. The square to Pluto can intensify emotions and bring power dynamics, control issues, or deeply buried material into awareness.
The Moon conjunct Venus in Scorpio turns our attention toward love, intimacy, values, and self-worth. Because Venus is retrograde, this is particularly suited to reflection rather than immediate action. Old relationship issues, desires, or questions about what we truly value may return for examination.
The square between the Moon and Mars can add emotional heat. We may be more reactive than usual, particularly when we feel threatened, ignored, controlled, or misunderstood.
From an esoteric perspective, this isn’t simply “difficult energy.” It’s an invitation to become conscious of what operates beneath our surface reactions. The soul does not ask us to eliminate our emotions; it asks us to become conscious of them.
Monday, October 12
The Moon in Scorpio conjoins Mercury in Scorpio.
This can be an excellent day for deep thinking, honest conversations, journaling, research, and looking beneath appearances. Mercury in Scorpio wants to uncover the truth rather than settle for the obvious explanation.
You may find yourself thinking about something you have previously avoided or finally having the words to articulate an experience you have been processing internally.
What you may experience: Conversations can become more intimate and revealing. You may also become aware of thoughts or beliefs that have been influencing your behavior beneath the surface.
From the perspective of Esoteric Philosophy, this is an opportunity to practice self-observation without judgment. Instead of immediately believing every thought, observe what your mind is showing you.
Tuesday, October 13
The Moon in Scorpio squares Jupiter in Leo and the North Node in Aquarius.
Jupiter expands whatever it touches. In Leo, it can amplify our desire to express ourselves, be recognized, create, and live from the heart. When the Scorpio Moon squares Jupiter, however, emotions can become larger than life.
You may feel strongly about something and be tempted to act from emotional certainty before you have gained true clarity.
The square to the North Node reminds us that personal desire and evolutionary growth are not always identical. Sometimes our growth requires us to step outside what feels familiar or personally gratifying and consider what serves the larger evolutionary purpose.
Later, the Moon moves into Sagittarius and trines Neptune in Aries.
The energy begins to lift. Sagittarius seeks meaning, truth, wisdom, and a larger perspective. Neptune invites us to connect with something beyond the personality.
What you may experience: After several days of emotional intensity, you may suddenly see the bigger picture. A situation that seemed complicated may begin to make sense when viewed from a broader perspective.
This is a beautiful reminder that meaning transforms experience. We cannot always change what happened, but we can change the consciousness with which we meet it.
Wednesday, October 14
The Sagittarius Moon sextiles Pluto in Aquarius, opposes Uranus in Gemini, trines Mars in Leo, and trines Saturn in Aries.
This creates a brief Grand Fire Trine between the Moon, Mars, and Saturn, combining emotional inspiration with action and discipline.
The Moon in Sagittarius wants freedom, truth, exploration, and growth. Mars in Leo gives us courage and creative fire, while Saturn in Aries asks us to take responsibility for how we use our individual power.
This is an especially useful combination for moving an insight into action.
At the same time, the Moon’s opposition to Uranus can bring surprises, sudden changes of mind, unexpected information, or a desire to break free from something that has become restrictive.
What you may experience: You may suddenly know that it is time to do something differently. An unexpected event or realization could disrupt your plans and ultimately help you see a new possibility.
The evolutionary opportunity is to distinguish between rebellion and liberation. Not every impulse to break free is soul-directed. Sometimes the personality wants freedom simply because it dislikes limits. The soul’s freedom is different: it comes from acting consciously rather than reactively.
Thursday, October 15
The Sun in Libra sextiles Jupiter in Leo, creating an encouraging influence for optimism, generosity, creativity, and growth.
The Sun represents our conscious identity and life force. In Libra, it seeks greater balance and conscious relationship. Jupiter in Leo encourages us to express our unique creative gifts.
This aspect can help us see possibilities rather than limitations.
The Sagittarius Moon also trines Jupiter in Leo and sextiles the Sun in Libra, creating an atmosphere of enthusiasm, perspective, and greater emotional confidence.
Most significantly, Pluto stations direct in Aquarius.
Pluto has been retrograde, encouraging an inward examination of power, transformation, authenticity, and our relationship with collective structures. When Pluto stations direct, the process begins to turn outward. What we have been discovering internally may now require action in the outer world.
From an evolutionary perspective, Pluto in Aquarius asks profound questions:
Where am I still attached to an identity that I have already outgrown? Where am I willing to transform so that I can participate more consciously in the evolution of humanity?
The Moon’s sextile to the North Node in Aquarius reinforces this theme.
What you may experience: A sense that something that has been internally developing is ready to move forward. You may feel more willing to release an outdated identity, relationship pattern, goal, or definition of success.
Friday, October 16
Mars in Leo Trines Saturn in Aries, an aspect that combines courage with discipline.
Mars says, “I will act.” Saturn asks, “Is this action responsible and sustainable?”
Together, they can help us take something we care about and give it structure.
This is excellent energy for disciplined creative action, beginning a project, establishing boundaries, or taking responsibility for something that matters to us.
The Sagittarius Moon trines Chiron in Aries before moving into Capricorn.
This can bring a healing perspective to old wounds around independence, self-confidence, and the right to be fully ourselves.
Then the emotional tone changes as the Moon enters Capricorn and squares Neptune in Aries while sextiling Venus in Scorpio.
We may move from inspiration into practicality. Dreams now need structure.
The Venus-Uranus quincunx can create uncertainty or restlessness around relationships, finances, values, or personal freedom. Something may feel different from what we expected.
What you may experience: You may recognize that a relationship, financial decision, or personal value needs to be reassessed. Rather than making an impulsive change, give yourself time to understand what is actually asking to change.
Saturday, October 17
The week culminates with the Moon in Capricorn square Saturn in Aries and sextile Mercury in Scorpio.
Capricorn asks us to become responsible for what we are creating. The square to Saturn can feel serious or demanding, but it can also help us recognize where greater maturity, structure, or commitment is needed.
The sextile to Mercury in Scorpio provides the ability to think deeply and honestly about what we have learned.
This is a fitting ending to the week’s journey.
We began with Libra asking us to examine relationship and balance. Scorpio took us inward to uncover what lies beneath the surface. Sagittarius expanded our perspective. Capricorn now asks:
What will you do with what you have learned?
From an evolutionary perspective, awareness is only the beginning. Transformation occurs when consciousness changes the way we live.

Action Steps for the Week
The energies this week invite us to move from awareness to conscious choice. Rather than asking only, “What is happening to me?” consider asking, “What is this experience revealing about the person I am becoming?” Esoteric Philosophy teaches us that our outer experiences can become a classroom for the evolution of consciousness when we are willing to observe ourselves honestly and respond rather than react.
Here are some ways to work consciously with this week’s energies:
- Notice where you are keeping the peace at the expense of your truth.
The Libra energy may reveal places where you have confused harmony with avoidance. Ask yourself: Am I creating genuine harmony, or am I simply avoiding discomfort? - Go beneath the surface.
With so much Scorpio energy, take time to examine your deeper motivations. When you have a strong emotional reaction, pause before acting. Ask: What is this feeling showing me about myself? - Practice observing your thoughts rather than automatically believing them.
Mercury in Scorpio can uncover powerful thoughts and memories. Journal about what arises. You don’t have to solve everything immediately. Conscious observation is itself transformative. - Look for the larger meaning.
When Sagittarius becomes prominent, step back from the immediate situation. Ask: What is this experience teaching me? How might this contribute to my evolution? - Distinguish freedom from reaction.
If you suddenly want to break away from something, pause. Ask whether the impulse is coming from fear, frustration, or the genuine need for growth. Soul-directed freedom is conscious; reactive freedom simply exchanges one pattern for another. - Give your inspiration structure.
The Mars-Saturn trine is excellent for taking an inspired idea and making it practical. Choose one thing that matters to you and give it a concrete next step. - Revisit your values.
Venus retrograde in Scorpio invites an honest examination of love, intimacy, money, self-worth, and what you truly value. Ask: Does the life I am creating reflect what I say I value? - Release an outdated identity.
With Pluto stationing direct in Aquarius, consider what part of your identity has already served its purpose. You don’t have to reject your past. You can honor what it taught you and still allow yourself to evolve beyond it. - Let your outer life become an expression of your inner transformation.
By the end of the week, ask yourself: What have I learned about myself, and what is one change I am willing to make because of that awareness?
The goal is not to navigate the week perfectly. It’s to become more conscious of who you are being while you move through it. Each experience becomes an opportunity to move from personality-driven reaction toward soul-directed response.
