2016: A Year of World Completion

The focus of this month's article is on the numerology of this year and what it means for all of us along with giving concrete ideas on how to make this a glorious year.

Last night at one of the Toastmaster meetings I attend here in Santa Rosa; the table topics master (the person who asks questions to unsuspecting attendees, which must be answered intelligently within a two minute framework. The purpose is to build the skill of speaking off the cuff or impromptu) asked a question that fits nicely with the topic we will be exploring this month. The question she asked was: "What is your wish for the world this year?" What a question. The person who answered the question did very well, even though she had never thought about this question before.

The point I am making is this: the numerology for this year is a nine - for the world. I am not referring to your personal year, your life path or soul number - these numbers are calculated using your birth date. It doesn't matter which calendar system you use, it is still a nine year. It could be argued that this is not the year 2016 based on how our calendar was developed, however since this is the main calendar that has been in use for more than 2000 years the energy patterns have been formulated and won't change unless we recalculate and put into use a new system of determining the year.

In numerology each year has significance. To reach the number for a given year - add each digit of the year together. In this case: 2 + 0 + 1 + 6 = 9. Next month's article will go into numerology in more detail. For now, let's talk about what a nine indicates? Nines are all about completion - the end of a cycle. I also believe it is a year to begin thinking about what we would like to accomplish for the next cycle. However, the focus still should be on cleaning up what we began at the start of this cycle - which began in year 2008. 2008 was a 1 year: 2 + 0 + 0 + 8 = 10; 1 + 0 = 1. I don't think it is necessary to go into what happened around the world in 2008 - we are all well aware of the events of that year and what a year it was.

When we look at completing things on the world stage that began in 2008, we see that this is the last year we will have President Obama as the US President. We see the financial and housing markets rising. I have no idea if this rise is merely on paper for our benefit or for real. I'm sure you can think back to 2008 and name many more events or situations that began in that year personally and on the world stage. Even though this is the numerological number for the world, each of us is affected - after all, individuals make up the world.

Each of us is responsible for creating the world we wish to live in. Since this is a fact: What can each of us do - on an individual level to move the world in a direction that reflects back to us, who we are in our highest form? Think about the answer in relation to this being a year to complete what was started in 2008 or carried over from the last cycle (cycle 8). The answer will be unique to each of us. We don't have to make huge changes to affect the world. Pick one area of your life that is out of balance, set a goal, make a plan, implement the plan by taking action and set a deadline for completion. The deadline should be no later than December 31, 2016. Here are a few things that might be chosen to work on:

letting go of what no longer works in your life, this could be toxic people, places, things, etc - this frees up mental and emotional energy to be used for something else;
doing research on each person running for president rather than just voting based on what someone else says about a particular person;
setting a financial budget for the year and sticking to it;
getting out of debt which affects the banking industry;
finally finishing that degree you have been working on, which will hopefully lead to a better job thus helping the economy and even if it doesn't lead to a better job you will be a better person.

The list is endless. My nemesis for longer than I care to mention has been keeping up on paperwork - it's something I have never liked and probably never will. However, last year I put a system in place to catch up and it is working well. This year my goal is to remain consistent with the system which frees up the energy I expended previously worrying about what needed to be done. This energy will be used to grow my business; thus increasing income, which helps the economy through investing, hiring other independent contractors and paying for services.

What can you complete this year on a small scale that will impact your community and thus the world? Make a plan, set it in motion and see what happens.
