It’s A New Year – Time for change Goal Setting

"In order to succeed, your desire for success should be greater than your fear of failure.” – Bill Cosby
Hello Everyone – Happy New Year!!
!

Have you made any New Year resolutions for this year? What are they? Are any of them resolutions you have made in the past? If so, what happened to cause you to achieve them – or not?

The beginning of the New Year is the perfect time to make long lasting positive changes in our lives. At the same time the changes we want to make are best attained if the goals are realistic and achievable for the year.
We have all set goals (and seen others do the same) without reaching them. It’s time we learn how to make lasting changes to our lives. This is the focus of this month’s article - how to set goals and actually achieve them.
There are traits that all successful people have and one of these traits is goal setting. Henry Ford said: "If you see it and believe it, you can achieve it.” I agree with him - to a point. If you see it and believe it, you can achieve it - if the boundary of your birth chart (astrology) has your desired goal as a possibility.

Let’s say (for example) you set a goal to lose weight or write that book this year. First of all, there is nothing wrong with these goals – they are on the surface achievable in a year. However, your astrology chart might say this isn’t a good year to work on these goals – maybe next year would be better. The point is – one of the first steps in setting achievable goals for the year is to take a look at your astrology chart for the year. It will not only say if the desired goal is achievable, it will also give you information pertaining to how the goal can be achieved.

Another step in achieving any goal is the motivation behind the goal. Be honest with yourself. Here are a few questions to assist in getting to the root of the motivation behind the goal: Why is the goal being set? Is it something really wanted or is it a goal someone else has for you? Is this goal in your best interest? Is the goal being set because it is your heart’s desire? Is it a need or a want? What is the payoff for achieving the goal? What is the payoff for not achieving the goal?
Setting the intention for your goal is something that also has to be done. When setting intention you must see the goal as though you have already achieved it. There is a procedure for setting intention which will be discussed in the next article. For now just know that goals cannot be reached without setting the intention

The next step to achieve your goals this year after you have analyzed your motives; taken a look at your astrology chart for the year and set your intention – is to write the goals down on paper. Each goal written should also include the strategy for achieving the goal. Be sure to think about what happened in the past that either helped or prevented the goal from being reached and come up with a contingency plan to circumvent any past defeat. Do this by thinking of every possible scenario and how you will handle them – this helps to alleviate some of the element of surprise. Be sure to include strategies to deal with Nay Sayers.

Now that the foundation for success has been built – it is time to set the start date for actually working on achieving your goal. It’s a good idea to use Astrology obtain this date. Once the day arrives – START!!! Don’t allow anything to derail you. Each day that goes by – working to achieve you goal puts you that much closer to success. Note: It takes 21 days to change a habit; however, I like to give it a good month. For example, if you are working on taking sugar out of your diet – you will have cravings for sugar for at least several weeks after not having it. After the initial 30 days of working towards any goal, it gets easier to stay the course.

Be sure to do mini check-ins with yourself to review your progress and make adjustments to the plan – if they are needed. Journaling is a good way to keep track of your progress.

Some people like to set a completion date. It’s fine to have one, just make sure it is realistic.
So, what is it you want to change in your life and when do you plan to start working towards that goal? How about now!!!
